Does not contain specific list fo rN3

I had bought this app to help study for N3 level of JLPT. While I do know that no official list has been released for N3 there are several "unofficial" lists available that could have been used in this application as well. JLPT study, another app for iPhone, does have a list of N3 vocab and kanji. Therefore this application is absolutely unuseful for me and I wouldnt have bought it if I had known....

Excellent app!

Kanji are very complete. There are many examples. So it is easier to see how to apply the kanji in sentences. However, the examples are too difficult. I wish that they are easier (daily usage examples). I was a bit lost on where to start. Maybe a user guide in a "help" section would be welcome. Ayant fait des années détude du japonais, le kanji est mon point faible. Beaucoup dexemples, cest très bien mais un peu compliqué. Jaurais souhaité des exemples de phrases de la vie de tous les jours.

First class kanji app

Handy, user friendly, excellent app for beginners or advanced learners

Very good

The best application to study. Could be more easy to edit the cards. Some kanjis without animation.

perfect

very useful for preparing for the jlpt tests!!! keep moving! :-)

Misses only a few things

Only things missing are: An option to write the kanji youself following out-greyed "ghostlines" in order to test if you knoq the right strokeorder. Furthermore, kata- and hiraganacards, which would benefit beginners and that would be easy to integrate. That aside, the app gives you everything you need and is totally worth the not-so-cheap price!

Indispensable!

From all the numerous apps on the market this is the one that got me into studying regularly again. And forming a habit is definitely key to successful language learning. Doing the quizzes is fun and intuitive. The amount of information provided is excellent. Also the developer is very responsive to questions and dedicated to customer support. Im looking forward to using more of his apps for other areas of study!

Audio is Not working

For the money I payed I am rather disappointed that the audio does not work at all. Without the audio there is no interest in buying this app.

Great!

It is definetly the best app for learning 漢字 I searched for an app like this so long and now I found the nearly perfect one. But I hope that they will develop something for writing the 漢字 as well.

Best and only App for Japanese!

This App comes with a price thats right. But this price is definitely worth it! What does this app offer: 1. All N5-N1 Kanji (Sorted by the N1-N5 AND sorted by Japanese school grades, around 2150 Kanji) 2. Around 10.000 FULLY VOICED!!!! vocabulary sorted by N5-N1 3. An customizable learning system (for example for vocabulary you can change between learning Kanji, Kana, English or Voiced) 4. The app records you progress and analyzes it for you 5. A dictionary If you want to learn Japanese, this app is a MUST-have, especially if you teach it yourself! Sorry for my bad English ;) Greetings

Really nice app for learning and repeating kanji

I have been using this app for almost two years and I can highly recommend it. I really like it a lot and use it almost daily to maintain my knowledge of kanji. This is not just a well-designed app, it is also very well-maintained! Good work.

kanji flash cards

Its perfect for studying kanji and Japanese vocabulary. If you have the app, you dont need any lexicons anymore, because of its own dictionary, which justifies the price of 10$. I absolutely recommend it.

Awesome!

Im using this app since 3 months now, and my Japanese (in general) has improved a lot. Im about to go to Japan this year, 5 months still left, and now I feel very confident about finding my ways through the streets of Japan. My Japanese skills from 10 years ago are nearly back entirely, now Im learning much more and connections between vocabulary, meanings and kanji seem way easier. The greatest thing about this app is that you can learn as much as you want whenever you have a moment to learn. Got 5 minutes in the tram? Open the app and study a few words. Repeat those. And watch how much you can recall the next time. Then theres statistics (how did you improve) and several options for your personal learning intervals etc. I also like the possibility to draw the kanji you learn, to have things read out for you, examples, similar kanji not to be confused with, ... Just awesome. My sister already asked me if there was a version for Korean. :D

Be a JLPT Pro!

If your studying vocabulary and kanji for the Japanese language proficiency tests, to finish all the joyo kanji or to learn more words this is the best flash card app you can buy. Dont waste your time with amateur flash cards on gFlash or other apps. This one scientifically reviews wrong answers to help you remember. Interface is great, look is professional. Wish it could do more than just Japanese.

Awesome App but need some tweaks

I stumbled upon this awesome app but it need some tweaks. For example, the landscape mode seems to have some problems especially after getting out of editing mode or when launching the app. It often go back to portrait mode and then turn back to landscape, which is a bit annoying. Also, when studying, the answer buttons are not repositioned in landscape mode so the text is written vertically. Maybe use icon instead ? Another killer feature is to be able to create your own study board but the problem is you probably want to use the existing material, which doesnt seem possible right now. As an example, I use the excellent Japanese app on iPhone and you can create your own list of any damn thing (particles, verbs, adjectives, name it) and make your own study set out of this. It would be awesome if you could create a custom board out of existing material because when encountering new words in life, it doesnt really fit the "academic" order and you might want to study that right away, which is downright impossible right now. JPLT Grades are also pretty daunting if you just begun learning Japanese. It would be really good if you could start with school grades instead, like the iKanji Touch app. The very best thing would be to have a writing practice feature to learn how to correctly draw the kanjis since its the real way the kanjis will stay in your head. Fix those and you will have a killer app! :) Good job!

Useful app, but a bit buggy

I bought this app so I can learn Kanjis when I commute to and from work. It does the job, and Im happy with it. The interface is nice and clean, easy to read. The colour system is pleasing to the eye and informative. As Philippe has reported, the app is buggy. It has "quit unexpectedly" a few times on my iPod Touch (4th G, 64gb), especially right after the installation. But it has become stable over time, enough to let me use it and enjoy it. That said, I now refrain from using the "Browse" function that gives an overview of all the cards of a particular section, because that will cause the app to crash. (Can you please fix that Justin?) -- In a future release, I would really like this app to be expanded to include separate chapters on "verbs", "nouns", "adjectives" and "particles", as well as a writing practice section.

best app for studying Japanese !

finally after tons of wasted money and dozens of apps I found The One this app got great interface and vocabulary and best of all it has usage samples! something no other app has! thank you!

Great

I bought this because of the other reviews, and now Ill add my own. Ive tried many apps for learning Japanese and this is one of the best. Anki is still necessary, especially if you use the Heisig method, but this is an excellent supplement. The SRS algorithm should be improved, though. As it is, there is no long-term reviewing.

It is about time!

My wife and I have been studying Japanese for a while and have been frustrated about finding a simple, user friendly app for the iphone. Most apps are either too expensive or frustratingly limited in how they move cards through the deck. This app is great. We have recommended it to other friends in Tokyo and they are addicted. I strongly recommend this act to anyone who is serious about expanding their vocabulary. IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!

Rock solid

Combined with the dictionary view on the iPhone browser and a real Japanese dictionary, I find this incredibly helpful; kudos!
